Four-bin rubbish system extended to parts of Kirkcaldy, Burntisland and Kinghorn

Around 20,000 householders in Kirkcaldy, Burntisland and Kinghorn will receive the new four-bin waste collection service from March.
The system, with colour-coded bins for a variety of household and garden waste, is to help the local authority meet Government landfill targets.
The council hopes the introduction of the service Fife-wide will result in an estimated saving of £1.1 million per year from 2015.
The service has already been introduced to households in Glenrothes, Levenmouth, north-east and west Fife.
However, central Kirkcaldy will not be included in the latest roll-out as council officers are continuing work on how best to service the large number of flats in the area.
Councillor Kat Carrington said: “This recycling programme is well used and I think the message has now got over that we can save a lot of money for the council if we recycle positively.”
Kirkcaldy area committee chairman Neil Crooks said: “It has actually been helpful being the last group to get done as we can learn from all the mistakes made elsewhere.”
