Police Scotland has re-stated that it remains fully committed to doing everything possible to trace Allan Bryant, the 24-year-old Glenrothes man who has been missing since November.
Chief Inspector Derek McEwan said police were determined to end the anguish that his family continue to suffer by not knowing where he is.
He said: “So far, this is the most significant missing person enquiry ever undertaken by police in Fife and has involved utilising an unprecedented number of Police Scotland resources from local, national and also those from several specialist departments.
“These resources have included a substantial investigative capability from the Specialist Crime Division, Major Investigation Team – East with 20 detectives making enquiries supported by a HOLMES (Home Office Large and Major Enquiry System) enquiry team analysing all information gleaned as part of the inquiry.
“Search has played a major part in the police operation and on any given day a search co-ordinator has deployed a team of up to 12 specialist search officers scouring areas where it is assessed Allan possibly may be. These searches have also involved assistance from Police Search Dogs, Police Scotland Underwater Search Unit and the Police Scotland Air Unit.
“The lack of any information to date which indicates Allan’s whereabouts is obviously very frustrating for his family and Police Scotland would like to reassure his family and the general public that we remain committed to the task of tracing Allan and re-uniting him with his family.
“We would again appeal to anyone who believes they have any information that may assist in our search for Allan to call Police Scotland on 101 or make contact through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
“It is also intended to hold a further public meeting in the Macedonia area of Glenrothes in the coming days and details of that meeting will be advised as soon as possible on Facebook and by local Glenrothes Police on their Twitter account.”
