Mr Vettriano, who is one of Scotland’s most popular painters, founded Heartbreak Publishing in 2008. A statement released on Tuesday said the company, of which Mr Vettriano is the majority shareholder, has ceased trading with immediate effect. The company sold limited-edition prints, posters, canvas, cards and postcards of Mr Vettriano’s paintings. Mr Vettriano said all the firm’s creditors will be paid and fans will still be able to buy copies of his work through his personalwebsite. He said: “This is purely a business decision and involves a return of the company’s assets to the shareholders.” Mr Vettriano, who was raised in Methil, is a self-taught artist. Despite his commercial success, he has clashed with critics who he claims have ignored his work.
