A pre-school nursery is to close as a result of Fife College’s withdrawal from Elmwood campus in Cupar.
Little Beehives Nursery is to merge its nursery at the college with its other nursery in the town, at Tannage Close.
Managing director Jennifer Martin said the business would no longer be viable due to the anticipated drop in student numbers.
Fife College, which shares the campus with SRUC Elmwood, will end its courses there this summer, which include care, hair and beauty and supported learning.
SRUC Elmwood runs the majority of the courses but there are concerns about its future.
Mrs Martin said: “We have looked after many hundreds of pre-school children at Elmwood over the past 14 years and it’s very sad to have to close the nursery, which will happen on July 1.
“The business will no longer be viable in light of the expected fall in student numbers.
“We will expand our facility at Tannage Close and our parents and carers will have the option to transfer their children to any of our other nurseries in north-east Fife.”
However, the nursery building will instead be used for a new breakfast and after school club, aimed at pupils of the town’s schools and served by a minibus.
The Little Beehives group, previously known as Busy Bees, has six nurseries in Fife and Angus.
