Kirkcaldy police officers are top of the cops as they adopt a different kind of beat this weekend.
Community officers in the town are to host a series of events, including an ultraviolet light party, at the YMCA tonight to help keep youngsters off the streets.
The focal point will be a party night, giving teenagers the opportunity to let their hair down in a safe environment.
As well as keeping youngsters entertained and out of trouble, the evening will also be used to raise awareness of the dangers of smoking, alcohol and drugs.
Other topics such as online safety and peer pressure will also be addressed.
Sergeant Jimmy Adamson said he hoped the event would prove positive for both young people and the police.
He added: “The ultraviolet themed party is right on trend, but along with the fun stuff there will also be a serious side. There will be a breakout area where youngsters can speak with police officers and that will also help us to engage with them.
“We can encourage them to make positive choices, act as role models and hopefully the event can boost youngsters’ self-esteem.”
The event is open to pupils in S1-S3 from all local secondary schools, with community officers having visited classes in recent weeks to sell tickets for the event.
Local police received £2,000 from Police Scotland and the Young Scot Choices for Life fund, working with the YMCA and Clued Up Kirkcaldy to develop a range of events for teenagers.
Tickets are available on the door, priced £1, with the party taking place from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
