Saturday sees the official opening of a foodbank in Rosyth.
Rosyth Food Bank is a satellite of the long established Dunfermline Foodbank which is run by the Trussell Trust.
Although it has been up and running from last September, Saturday is a chance for the public to find out more about what goes on in running such a vital service.
Dunfermline Food Bank chairman John Drylie said the service had already helped hundreds of people in need. From last March 240 people in Rosyth had been helped. And a staggering 47% of those were children.
Now the open day, held in Rosyth Parish Church hall in Queensferry Road from 10am-12 noon, will let more people find out about how they can help.
The service is on the lookout for more volunteers, both for Rosyth and for a fledgling Inverkeithing service. Again, from last March, the charity had come to the aid of more than 220 people in Inverkeithing, 44% of them children.
“People are in need,” said Mr Drylie.
“And we ae always looking for sensitive ways to promote and advertise the food bank in the district. People are starting to know we are there this event is to make even more people aware.”
