A cheeky tenant in Glenrothes left a not-so-subtle message to Fife Council’s refuse collectors after their bin was left unemptied.
The unidentified resident in the town’s Hatton Green decided to improvise after finding their green bin used for plastics and cans – was still full at the kerbside, and attached a note designed to get the council workers’ attention.
It read: “I wish I was like a bin man’s head empty”.
However, the succinct notice did not down too well with Fife Council service manager Martin Kingham, who described the comment as “unhelpful”.
“These bins are routinely emptied every four weeks,” he said.
“Today is the scheduled collection day for this bin and the crew is currently working in the Stenton area. “Our household waste collection team is second to none and certainly does not deserve unhelpful comments like this.
“All of our front line employees relentlessly work hard in all weathers to deliver a reliable and valuable service every week for over 170,000 households in Fife.
“If anyone feels we have fallen short of their expectations, the council has an easy to use system to make enquiries or to lodge complaints.
“Our supervisory team deals with these promptly whenever we receive them.”
Householders should leave their bins out by 6am on the day of collection and bring them in as soon as they can once they have been emptied.
Bin collection calendars can be checked at www.fifedirect.org.uk or requested by calling Fife Council’s recycling helpline on 03451 55 00 22.
