Two men have been charged in connection with a spate of break-ins in Glenrothes.
The duo, aged 19 and 22, have been reported to the procurator fiscal following 20 break-ins and thefts to properties in the town since the beginning of September.
Glenrothes Community Sergeant Kenny Greig said the arrests had been made following help from the public and encouraged residents to ask for advice from officers to keep their homes secure.
“We’re delighted by the response from the community and following extensive inquiries by local officers, two men have now been charged,” he said.
“We have also managed to recover a large quantity of property and are in the process of reuniting these items with their rightful owners.
“Although no one has the right to break in to your home, there are steps you can take to reduce your chances of being a victim of housebreaking.”
Dick Jones, from the Neighbourhood Safety Group, said: “Our group is active in the area and our main aim is to get community safety and crime prevention messages across.
“We also want to give people the chance to purchase items of equipment that could improve their personal security or the security of their homes or garden sheds.
“Among the items that we have available are purse safety chains, purse bells, personal attack alarms, shed alarms and light timers.
“As mentioned by Sergeant Greig, you can drop in to Glenrothes Police Station to have a look at the products. Our display stands, will be in locations throughout Glenrothes during the festive period.”
