A Fife man who subjected Scottish Government minister Humza Yousaf to racist abuse on social media after the Paris bombings has appeared in court.
Garry David told the Muslim MSP on Facebook to “Get to f*** out of my country” the day after the terrorist attacks which killed 130 people in the French capital.
Mr Yousaf, a SNP MSP for Glasgow and currently Minister for Europe and International Development, was targeted on social media by David and others, Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard.
David, 42, of Marshall Place, Dunfermline, admitted that on 14th November he acted in a racially aggravated manner to Humza Yousaf MSP by making racially offensive remarks to him.
Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf told the court that the MSP had received a number of abusive messages following the Paris atrocities.
David had posted to Mr Yousaf, “F*** you, your name tells me everything I need to know about you.”
He went on, “Get to f*** out of my country” and called him a “smelly Paki b******”.
David also posted that he thought it was “disgraceful how we lie down to their way of life”.
Sheriff Craig McSherry fined David £700.
