Yellow lines outside Dunfermline school to be extended

Councillors are clamping down on dangerous parking around a Dunfermline primary school.
Parents with children at St Leonards Primary are ignoring a car park and parking on double yellow lines on a bend in the busy road.
Now councillors are implementing a scheme to extend the double yellow lines to the bus stand on the west side of St Leonards Place and past the cycle way on the east side.
At the moment there are parking restrictions from the junction with Hospital Hill for around 40 metres on both sides of the road into the junction of St Leonards Place.
From that point there are single yellow lines for around 93 metres on both sides of the road. Both these restrictions were installed when Dunfermline High School was on its original position with car park entrances off St Leonards Place.
Committee chairwoman Helen Law said: “Despite there being ample safe places to park in the area, it appears that people would rather park on St Leonards Place, which is dangerous.
“It’s important that we deal with dangerous and obstructive parking and stop vehicles driving on pavement where children are walking.
“These restrictions will allow us to do this.”
