An investigation has been launched by Scotland’s police commissioner into an incident that resulted in armed police being deployed to a Fife village.
The police investigations and review commissioner (PIRC) is looking into what happened in Kinghorn on July 16, when three men were arrested for allegedly breaching the peace.
A PIRC statement said: “Police Scotland notified the police investigations and review commissioner of a firearms incident in Kinghorn on Tuesday, July 16.
“The commissioner requested additional information on the matter from Police Scotland.
“Following an assessment by PIRC investigators the commissioner has now initiated a full investigation into the matter.”
A police spokesman said: “We can confirm that three men were arrested for a breach of the peace following an incident in Kinghorn on July 16.
“As armed officers were involved in this incident the matter as required by legislation was self-referred to the PIRC.”
