The family of Kirkcaldy man Sheku Bayoh will take their concerns to the Scottish Parliament today, 22 weeks after he died in police custody.
Joined by their solicitor Aamer Anwar, they will brief politicians on the background of the case.
Mr Bayoh’s partner Collette Bell and his three sisters, Kadi Johnson, Adama Jalloh and Kosna Bayoh, as well as brother-in-law Ade Johnson, will also express their disquiet over the investigation by the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC).
PIRC has been reviewing the circumstances leading to the 31-year-old’s death as he was detained by police on Hayfield Road, Kirkcaldy, on the morning of May 3.
The father-of-two’s family fear he may have died of positional asphyxiation and have grave concerns over the actions of some officers.
They have already held meetings with Scotland’s Lord Advocate and Chief Constable Sir Stephen House.
Today’s meeting has been organised by mid Scotland and Fife Labour MSP Claire Baker and will involve politicians of all parties.
