Man admits murdering 90-year-old woman after becoming angry at his phone

Georgina Barnett died five days after being attacked in her Kirkcaldy home.
A man has admitted battering a 90-year-old woman to death in her Fife home after he became angry at his mafunctioning mobile phone.
Thomas Brogan is facing a life sentence in prison after pleading guilty to the murder of Georgina Barnett at the High Court in Edinburgh.
The 46-year-old attacked the widow at her home in Ramsay Road, Kirkcaldy, despite pleas from the pensioner for him to stop.
Mrs Barnett died in Victoria Hospital five days after the attack.
Before she passed away she told police that Brogan had come to her house “looking for the boy next door”.
She said he was drunk and continued drinking at her house and he was angry and annoyed about his mobile phone before he launched his assault on her.
Brogan, who has previous convictions for possession of heroin and an offensive weapon, has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on October 30 after background reports.
