Three people are expected to appear in court today following the death of 26-year-old Fife man Arif Mahmood in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Two men, aged 25 and 29, and a 23-year-old woman will appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Monday charged with assault.
Mr Mahmood’s family issued the following statement through Police Scotland on Monday morning.
“We are finding it extremely difficult to come to terms with our loss and would ask that our privacy be respected at this difficult time,” it said.
Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident but are urging any further witnesses to come forward and contact Police Scotland on 101.
A large area in the town centre was sealed off on Sunday morning to allow scenes of crime officers to conduct examinations following the incident.
A cordon was thrown up along the length of Queen Anne Street, from Pilmuir Street to the opposite end of the bus station.
Mr Mahmood was taken to Queen Margaret Hospital following the incident, which occurred around 2am on Sunday morning, but later died.
