A pregnant thief and a burglar who stole bows, arrows and firearms are among the criminals collared by police during a crackdown on robbers in the last two months.
Operation RAC is Police Scotland’s ongoing response to housebreakings and over the festive period officers detected a number of thieves in the west of Fife.
A 26-year-old man from Cardenden appeared at court on Tuesday charged with a break-in overnight on January 12-13 at Cluny Clays.
A quantity of bows, arrows and firearms were stolen along with a Segway motorised vehicle.
All of the items were recovered.
In another incident two women one of whom was pregnant aged 28 and 25, appeared at court after being arrested for a break-in at a Lochgelly house, where a large-screen television was stolen.
Both were local to the area and appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court earlier this month.
The television was subsequently recovered.
In December a 26-year-old man was remanded in custody in relation to a series of crimes which occurred between March and December last year in the Cowdenbeath area.
He appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court and was remanded in custody until his next court date.
Sergeant Sean Ferrier is part of the Operation RAC team.
He said: “Having your house broken into can be extremely distressing. We want to reassure the public that we are taking robust action to tackle housebreaking.
“Several individuals have been remanded in custody or are awaiting trial for acquisitive crime offences, with others being actively sought.
“Operation RAC is not just about enforcement. As part of our commitment to communities we will continue to provide an engaging presence across Fife.”
