Polls open for Glenrothes West and Kinglassie council seat
ByJonathan Watson
The polls are open in Glenrothes today, with control of the town’s political affairs up for grabs.
Labour needs to successfully defend the Glenrothes West and Kinglassie council seat if it wishes to retain control of the town’s area committee, the body that controls many council functions inGlenrothes, while an SNP victory would provide an important springboard from which to attack the council administration.
The ballot follows the death of Labour representative Betty Campbell in January.
Defending the seat for Labour is South Parks resident Alan Seath, while Craig Walker has been selected by the SNP.
Other candidates are Martin Green for the UK Independence Party, while John Wheatley is standing for the Conservatives and Jane Ann Liston the Liberal Democrats.
Polls are open until 10pm with the count taking place tonight at Fife House.
