Blaze rips through Ballingry living room causing major damage to home

A Fife home has been left badly damaged after a blaze took hold in the living room.

Firefighters spend most of yesterday evening battling to extinguish the fire in a terraced house in Cleikimin Crescent, Ballingry.

The alarm was raised at 7.30pm but firefighters were at the scene until almost midnight cutting away damaged timbers and dealing with the aftermath.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Service said it was not yet known what had caused the fire but that no one was harmed in the incident.

He said: “Two appliances were there for most of the night and crews used four sets of breathing apparatus and two hosereel jets.”
