Teenager taken to hospital after Fife farm accident
ByMichael Alexander
A teenager has been taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee following an accident on a Fife farm.
Emergency services were called to Drumrack Farm at Kingsmuir off the B9131 St Andrews to Anstruther road shortly before 9am after reports that the 18-year-old male thought to be a farm worker had become trapped in a silo.
However, police later confirmed he had not fallen into a silo. It appeared he had been working at the farm on top of a pile of bales. Instead of climbing down he had jumped around 12 feet from the top of the bale stack and had injured himself.
Specialist fire and medical units were sent to the scene but were quickly stood down.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the incident was “not as bad as first suspected.”
A spokeswoman for the Health and Safety Executive said: “We have been made aware of an incident this morning and are making preliminary inquiries.”
