Cardenden benefits cheat sentenced to 300 hours’ community work
ByGraham Gibson
A Cardenden woman who illegally claimed more than £13,000 of housing and council tax benefit over 11 years has been sentenced at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.
Tracy Morrison, 41, Kirkburn Drive, was sentenced to 300 hours’ unpaid work by Sheriff Alasdair Thornton.
She admitted that, between February 26 2001 and June 10 last year, at Kirkburn Drive, Cardenden, she knowingly made a false statement to Fife Council on housing benefit and council tax benefit claim forms that she lived alone.
The truth was that she lived with husband Stephen Morrison, who was working. Therefore, she obtained housing and council tax benefit of £13,461.25, to which she was not entitled.
