Kirkcaldy’s award-winning hospital radio station Victoria Radio Network has been nominated for a major national accolade. Station presenter Anas Hassan interviewed Emmy-nominated screenwriter Kevin Toolis about the much talked-about play The Confessions of Gordon Brown. The interview and Anas’s reflection of the play has been nominated for Best Speech Package at the National Hospital Radio Awards. The play, which explored the Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath MP’s time as Prime Minister, was a prominent feature at last year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Anas said: “I am absolutely ecstatic to have my speech package shortlisted. “I was very grateful for gaining the opportunity to interview Kevin about his play and I want to thank him once again for talking for VRN. “I cannot wait to fly the flag for VRN.” There are nine other contenders for the award and the winner will be announced in March.
