Police investigating an armed bank robbery in Kirkcaldy say they are pursuing positive lines of inquiry.
Detective Inspector Colin Robson has said that police have received “numerous” phone calls from the public after CCTV images of two men wanted in connection with last Friday’s raid were released.
A four-figure sum of money was taken from the TSB branch in Dunearn Drive, Templehall, before the culprits made their escape on mountain bikes.
Mr Robson, who is leading the inquiry, said: “I’d like to thank everyone who has taken the time to contact police and assisted with our inquiries.
“There has been a strong response since the release of the CCTV images and we’re pursuing various lines of inquiry.
“Those who have been in touch have been extremely forthcoming and willing to help in any way they can and I can assure them that we will leave no stone left unturned.
“Our investigation is ongoing and we’re working tirelessly in an effort to trace those responsible.
“I again urge anyone who has information in relation to this matter to please get in touch with police as soon as possible.”
Several customers were in the small branch when two men raided the bank at around 10.40am last Friday.
The first is described as white, in his late 20’s or early 30’s with dark stubble on his face. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark coloured baseball cap and dark coloured clothing.
The second man is described as white, 5ft 9ins tall, around 30 years old, of medium build and with stubble. At the time of this incident, he wore a dark coloured baseball cap, dark blue tracksuit bottoms, dark blue/grey hooded top and dark coloured trainers.
In the aftermath of the incident, increased police patrols have been in place throughout Templehall, while door-to-door enquiries of local houses were conducted earlier in the week.
Chief Inspector Stevie Hamilton, local area commander, added: “There has been tremendous support from the local community during the course of this investigation and I thank them for their patience and cooperation.
“Uniformed officers will remain in the area for the time being to provide a reassuring presence and we will also ask members of the public who were in the area of Dunearn Drive last week to cast their minds back and to provide any information that might help us trace those responsible.
“What may seem innocuous could have a huge impact as part of a wider investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Fife CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
