Fife Council leader tells Alex Salmond to ‘grow up’
ByJonathan Watson
The leader of Fife Council has hit back at Alex Salmond for claiming that his administration has “lost the plot”.
David Ross has called on the former First Minister to “grow up” after he slammed the way that the region was being run.
Mr Salmond made the remark while campaigning in the region ahead of a local by-election in Glenrothes last week, highlighting closures of schools and cuts to local library services.
Describing Labour’s record in office as “extremely disappointing” he added: “Particularly recently, Fife Council seems to have lost the plot in the last few months.”
But Mr Ross said the council is facing the twin challenge of increased costs and reduced resources “ without help from the Scottish Government.”
He added: “If he (Mr Salmond) thinks we’re cutting things because we like it then he needs to grow up and have a bit of sense.”
