A painter and decorator sexually assaulted a woman who asked him to strip wallpaper in her home.
James Jamieson, of Oswald Road, Kirkcaldy, embraced the woman and grabbed her bottom after asking if she was single.
He was placed on the sex offenders’ register today after Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court heard it was the second time he had committed such an offence.
He was also ordered to undergo cognitive behavioural therapy.
The 42-year-old was contacted by the woman via Facebook to ask for a quote for the work needed.
The court was told the woman had said: “I hope it won’t be an arm and a leg.”
Jamieson responded: “It will be two arms and a cuddle.”
He then turned up at her home without any equipment and committed the offence.
Depute fiscal Sam Johnston said the woman managed to get him to leave and had been visibly upset when a neighbour saw her.
Jamieson’s solicitor Alan Davie said his client had set up a wallpaper stripping business with his father-in-law but had been alone when he turned up at the house.
Jamieson, Oswald Road, Kirkcaldy, admitted assaulting the woman on January 4, by embracing her by the body and seizing her by the buttocks.
The offence was contrary to the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009.
Sheriff William Wood said the incident was “clearly distressing” for the woman.
“This is your second offence of this type, albeit the law has changed since your first a number of years ago.”
He told the accused he had considered custody but opted not to send him to prison as he would not be subject to any kind of supervision.
Instead, he imposed a three-year community payback order which will include therapy sessions and 195 hours of unpaid work.
He will be on the sex offenders’ register for the duration of the order.
