A minute’s silence will be held at Crail Raceway in memory of former Fife farmer Willie Robertson, who died suddenly at his home in Crail earlier this week.
Mr Robertson was the founder of Crail Raceway and, while management has now confirmed that a planned track day will not now go ahead for legal and insurance reasons, a non-racing gathering which could attract substantial numbers of car enthusiasts paying tribute will go ahead.
Willie’s sister Victoria, who intends to take over Crail Raceway, told The Courier: “Unfortunately the family of Willie, due to legal and insurance purposes, have been advised that a track day cannot be held on Sunday.
“However, in memory and respect of Willie, the family will be holding a memorial gathering where they would be delighted and honoured for those wishing to come and pay their respects to do so.
“There will be a minute’s silence at noon. As some have suggested, there will be a donation box on site. There will be no track access or racing due to legal reasons.”
Mr Robertson, 47, who lived alone, was found dead at his home on Tuesday morning. He had apparently fallen down the stairs and broken his neck.
The family said a post- mortem has now been delayed until Monday.
Police have confirmed that there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
