A former soldier taking a 7,500 mile walk around the UK coast reached the Forth Road Bridge.
Christian Nock, 39, started his challenge in Blackpool nearly a year ago and has already raised more than £78,000 for Help for Heroes.
Earlier this week he was greeted at Edinburgh Castle and during the bridge crossing he was accompanied by an army piper and gunners from the 105th Royal Artillery (Volunteers) as well as
the Help for Heroes’ official Scottish mascot.
He was invited to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and said he was looking forward to the event.
As well as aiming to raise £100,000 for Help for Heroes Christian also hopes to raise awareness of homelessness by sleeping rough.
The former Staffordshire Regiment soldier was made homeless himself after hitting financial problems when his B&B business collapsed.
Colonel Phil Bates, commander of Edinburgh Garrison, said: “I was both proud and humbled to meet Christian when he visited Edinburgh Castle, and offer my personal support for his cause.
“He left the army in the late 1990s and entered civilian life, where he pursued a second career.
“He unfortunately fell on hard times and had to cope with a range of difficulties one of these was that he found himself homeless.
“Being the man and the character he is, he has refused to let his difficulties define him, but has taken on this huge challenge because he wants to make a difference and raise awareness and money for charity.
“I would urge anybody to take the time to support him and the causes he is championing.”
