A teenager who carried out a violent, jealousy-fuelled attack has been sent to detention for two years.
Kieran Moran (18), of Provost’s Land, Leslie, admitted assaulting a man in a phone box at Maryfield Crescent in Leslie on July 22 by punching him on the head, causing him to strike his head against the inside of the phone box, whereby he fell to the ground and lost consciousness, and then repeatedly kicking him on the head and body, all to his severe injury.
He also admitted assaulting his then girlfriend by repeatedly seizing her by the hair, pulling her hair and repeatedly punching and kicking her on the head and body, all to her injury.
Cupar Sheriff Court had heard Moran wrongly thought the man had been involved with his 16-year-old girlfriend. His victim had hospital treatment for a broken nose and emergency dental work, while Moran’s former girlfriend was left with a bloody nose.
Sheriff Charles Macnair on Thursday sentenced Moran to two years’ detention for the first charge and 135 days for the second, to run concurrently.
