A 90-year-old woman has died after an alleged attack in her Kirkcaldy home.
Police were called to Georgina Barnett’s house in Ramsay Road on Tuesday June 25. The pensioner passed away in Victoria Hospital on Sunday.
Thomas Brogan, 46, who appeared in Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court last week, is due to appear again later this week in connection with her death. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
Her niece, Angela Copeland, said: “Doddy was a very special person to everyone who knew her, particularly her family, friends and neighbours.
“She had lived in Ramsay Road for 35 years and in that time had many friends and was a well-known member of the community. We loved her dearly she always had time for her family and friends, and her loss is very hard for us all to take.
“Many people have told us how special a person she was to them, and have paid their respects, but we would now ask to be left to grieve in peace.”
Chief Inspector Gordon Mitchell said: “If anyone has information in connection with this they should call Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
“Local officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area and patrols have been increased in this part of Kirkcaldy as part of Police Scotland’s Campaign Against Violence.”
