A Fife shopkeeper was bravely back behind the counter after an incident at his store on Monday which led to two people being charged.
Kirkcaldy shop owner Fazal Imran Sindhu, a father of three, was on duty at the time and on his own in the shop. The incident happened at Malkha’s News, Food and Wine, in Birnam Road, just before 5pm on Monday.
Mr Sindhu, 31, told The Courier: “It was a scary feeling.”
The shop was initially closed to allow investigations to be conducted, but it reopened the next day.
The area around the premises, at the junction with Fair Isle Road, was earlier cordoned off and police carried out door-to-door inquiries.
Mr Sindhu spent several hours at Kirkcaldy Police Station being interviewed. However, undeterred by his experience, he courageously reopened his shop and resumed service as normal early on Tuesday morning.
Police confirmed that a 26-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman had been charged in connection with the incident. Another 24-year-old man was charged in connection with separate incidents in the town on Monday evening.
He is due to appear in Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on charges of attempted robbery.
