Firefighters are tackling a major blaze which is tearing through Tentsmuir Forest.
At least four crews are involved in the effort to get the fire under control.
The alarm was raised on Thursday afternoon, with plumes of smoke visible over the woodland.
Reserve warden Tom Cunningham said the blaze was spreading through trees and grass at the Fife beauty spot, and was threatening the young plantation.
He added: “I think they will get it under control but it’s still spreading.”
Police are warning the public to stay away while firefighters tackle the blaze.
A spokesman for Police Scotland’s Fife division said: “There are lots of access points and we’re concerned that members of the public might find themselves walking into the area by mistake.
“We’re advising the public to stay away from the Tentsmuir Forest area while the fire is being tackled.”
Tentsmuir Forest is part of the Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve. As well as being a popular spot for picnics and walkers, the woodland provides an important habitat for a range of wildlife, including red squirrels and roe deer.
Recent dry, hot conditions have created tinderbox conditions at the forest. Fire crews were called out to tackle a grass fire at the reserve last week.
There was no indication that anyone had been hurt in the incident.
