An East Neuk holiday home won the top prize at the Dundee Institute of Architects’ 2015 awards on Thursday night.
More than 150 people attended the awards ceremony at the Invercarse Hotel in Dundee, hosted by Tay FM breakfast presenter Erin Linton.
The awards recognise the best buildings created by members of the Dundee Institute of Architects, which covers Tayside and Fife.
Mid Rock House in Elie, designed by WT Architecture Ltd, won the evening’s Supreme award for building of the year. The five-bedroom holiday let overlooks Ruby Bay and has stunning views over the Firth of Forth toward East Lothian.
Glamis firm James F Stephen Architects also enjoyed a successful night, claiming a hat-trick. It won the Rehab/Rejuvenation Award for its work on Dundee Verdant Works’ High Mill and Preparing Rooms, and its design for National Nature Reserve visitors’ centre on the Isle of May claimed two prizes: best use of timber and best project (less than £500,000).
There were more than 70 entries across the 12 award categories. Winners were chosen by a judging panel of Christine Palmer, DIAS president, former president of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland Iain Connelly and Courier columnist and property writer Helen Brown.
Christine Palmer said: “It was great to visit some really interesting projects and hear the enthusiasm of those involved in bringing them to fruition.”Photo gallery: Some of the projects on the DIA shortlist
