Renovations to Ladybank railway station are still on track.
A prominent eyesore building has now been demolished as part of the ongoing work which includes step-free access to both platforms. A large car park to the rear of the station is also being created.
The work has been welcomed by Councillor Donald Lothian, who has campaigned for improvements for more than a decade. He had described the condition of the now-demolished building as “depressing”.
“I started campaigning for renovations tshortly after becoming the councillor for Ladybank in 1999, and I am delighted work has now started,” he said.
“This is terrific news, not only for the residents of Ladybank who will benefit from enhanced visual amenity, but also for the wider population in the Howe of Fife as rail travel from Ladybank will be easier, particularly for those with mobility considerations.”
Mr Lothian said First ScotRail had worked with Ladybank Development Trust to deliver the project.
