Plant and equipment owners in Fife urged to up security

Users of small mobile plant and machinery in Fife are being advised to be vigilant about their storage and security after the theft of an all-terrain vehicle in the St Andrews area.
PC Paul Buttercase, community safety officer for North-East Fife, said: “Where possible, when equipment is not in use, it should be stored securely and locked with the keys in a secure location. On-site security or a remote monitoring service should also be considered.
“Owners of plant and equipment should also consider using the CESAR scheme for tagging equipment. In addition, registering it with the National Plant and Equipment Register will make any identifying details available to the police when checking any plant or equipment they suspect may be stolen.
“The vehicle stolen in this incident was a John Deere XUV 855D Gator 4 x 4 vehicle.
It is green and yellow in colour with damage to the front bull bars and the windscreen. It is fitted with a storage rack on the bonnet and yellow, five-spoke alloy wheels and had the registration number SP13AHJ.
“Anyone who has information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
