Tribute has been paid to the longest-serving principal of Angus College, who died just short of his 83rd birthday.
Jim Wilson was at the helm of the college for 22 years until 1989, overseeing an eight-fold growth in its size.
Current principal John Burt said: “Those staff who knew him talk of him as being the perfect gentleman and a pleasure to work with in many ways they see him as being the father of Angus College.”
Born in Alva, Clackmannanshire, Mr Wilson studied physics at Edinburgh University and received an MSc from St Andrews University.
He worked for English Electric, near Leicester, before taking up an industrial liaison role with Dundee College of Technology.
From there, he was appointed principal of Angus College in 1967.
Mr Wilson was married to Catherine, who he met at Edinburgh University, for 56 years.
They lived in Broughty Ferry before moving to Cupar in retirement.
Mr Wilson was a member of Probus, Toastmasters and bridge clubs and created all kinds of things on his lathe.
He is survived by his wife Catherine, children Fiona, Keith and Jane and five grandchildren.
