Weddings and baptisms from days gone by could help a Cupar church repair its spire.
St John’s Church is holding a display as part of an open event on Saturday May 4 and has asked anyone who was married or baptised in the kirk to send in a photocopy of the happy event.
Other historic artefacts and documents will also be on show from 10am till noon and people are invited to go along to find out more about the church’s role in Cupar.
The open day is part of St John’s ongoing efforts to raise £370,000 to repair its historic spire a landmark in the market town since 1878.
Members have already raised £350,500, thanks to grants from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Historic Scotland and the general trustees of the Church of Scotland, along with contributions from the congregation.
Businesses and members of the wider community have also been asked to donate.
Anyone who would like their photograph included in the weddings and baptisms display, should send a photocopy along with details of names, dates and other relevant information, to Cupar St John’s Spire Appeal, PO Box 29472, Cupar, KY15 9AN.
Alternatively, it can be left with staff at the Lighthouse Cafe, or emailed to Audrey.peebles@btinternet.com.
Further information on the fundraising and restoration project can be found on the church website, cuparstjohnsanddairsie.org.
