An 11-year-old boy has launched his own school campaign to fight knife crime, after his uncle was stabbed to death.
Liam Stark was just seven when his uncle Sean was fatally stabbed in May 2009.
The primary 7 pupil, acting on his own initiative, decided to do something about the scourge of knife crime by making an impassioned speech to fellow pupils at St Patrick’s Primary School in Lochgelly.
Calling his campaign Ditch the Knife and Cherish Life, Liam told the children: “When I was just seven my uncle Sean was brutally stabbed on May 31 2009, which had a big impact on my family’s life.
“Not just the loss of a great uncle but my mum and dad separated and did not speak we had to move out of Fife and away from family and friends.”
Liam also told the youngsters about the fatal stabbing of family friend Barry McLean in May 2011.
Liam and his fellow campaigners will also be holding a march between Buchanan Street and Argyll Street in Glasgow on Saturday May 4.
