Former depute assessor for Fife Council, John Campbell dies aged 83
ByMichael Alexander
The community of Giffordtown in North East Fife was saddened to learn of the death of John Campbell, on May 5, aged 83.
With his wife, Sadie, Mr Campbell moved to Charlottetown in 1981, subsequently moving to Giffordtown seven years later, when he retired from his position as depute assessor for Fife Council.
A member and past captain of Ladybank Golf Club, Mr Campbell enjoyed this sport to the full during his retirement years.
He was also a keen gardener, taking part in the annual Giffordtown Gardens’ Open day on several occasions.
A childhood spent on an Ayrshire farm had given him a love of the countryside and he was a keen bird watcher and enthusiastic participant in the RSPB’s annual bird surveys.
Living in the small country hamlet of Giffordtown, watching the seasons as they turned, served to remind him of childhood pleasures and interests.
Mr Campbell valued his neighbours, a great support to himself and Sadie, especially during his recent illness. He is survived by his wife, Sadie and children David and Morag.
Funeral arrangements to be announced.
