Man arrested in connection with alleged shooting in Glenrothes

A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged attempted robbery of two women in Glenrothes on Tuesday evening, in which one of the women was injured by airgun pellets.
Officers from Fife Division of Police Scotland arrested the man on Wednesday night.
Chief Inspector Derek McEwan said: “Following extensive investigation during the day and evening of Wednesday, Police Scotland Fife Division officers arrested a man and recovered a weapon.
“I would like to thank the local community and in particular the local residents of Pitteuchar in Glenrothes for their response following this incident. We received valuable information from local people which allowed us to focus our resources resulting in this arrest.”
Police said the woman who sustained injuries remains in hospital for treatment, and was not discharged as was originally advised.
The man is expected to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Friday.
