Tributes have been paid to an “extremely talented and caring” teenager who was found dead in Fife on Thursday afternoon.
Sophia Isabelle Neill, 16, of Dalgety Bay, was last seen on Wednesday afternoon walking westwards along the A921 between her home town and Inverkeithing.
Her body was recovered on Thursday afternoon at the shore at Braefoot Bay, near Dalgety Bay.
Police have said there do not appear to have been any suspicious circumstances.
Sophia’s brother Jack paid tribute to his sister on Facebook, confirming his father had returned from the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy and declared the body as Sophia’s.
Jack said: “I would like to now thank everyone who helped to spread the word of her disappearance and to all of the dedicated and caring people who stood by me during this difficult period of mystery.
“I openly admit that I never saw eye-to-eye with my sister and we were two opposites, but she was my sister, an extremely talented and caring member of our my family, and I goddamn miss her!
“The next few days are going to be dreadful for my family and I, but we’re going to stay strong and give Sophia the proper funeral she deserves.
“I appeal to everyone to remember her as a creative, funny, and outgoing person who stood up to malice from left, right and centre and did her best to please her riends.”
Inverkeithing High School head teacher Iain Yuile said: “We are all shocked and terribly saddened by the news of Sophia’s death and our thoughts are with her family at this time.”
Friends of the family also paid tribute on Facebook.
Paige Gardner said: “I’m so sorry Jack my thoughts are with you and your family.”
Catrina Laing said: “Sophia will always be the funny, bubbly, caring girl that we all know and love and we should remember her that way!”
Demi Paterson, who was in Sophia’s year at school, said: “She was nice she was always smiling when I saw her and she would always smile at me.
“I know this is hard for you and your family and my heart goes out to you all.”
Cammy Morgan said: “She was always so lively, friendly, kind and so nice.”
Police confirmed the body had been formally identified as Sophia’s.
