A series of student videos have become internet hits as a YouTube dance craze spread to St Andrews.
The Harlem Shake went viral earlier this month, with people around the globe mimicking a video of several people in bizarre costumes dancing to Baauer’s 2012 instrumental track by the same name.
Thousands have logged on to see the version recorded by the St Andrews Malaysian International Group (SMIG), a student society of St Andrews University.
The Harlem Shake comes hot on the heels of the Gangnam Style hit video which inspired parodies and dance mobs around the world.
The Harlem Shake typically features a dancing person being ignored by people round about before cutting to a wild party of dancers in the same spot, some with bizarre outfits and props.
In the St Andrews Malaysian students’ video two men in suits start the dancing before fellow society members join in.
Other student groups in the town have also got in on the act.
Among them are students from the John Burnet Hall and the university’s Ultimate Club.
