FAST FOOD restaurant chain KFC has confirmedthat it is to open a restaurant in Glenrothes.
The company already has an outlet in Kirkcaldy.
Now it says that it is currently searching for suitable premises in Glenrothes in a move that could create dozens of jobs.
A spokesperson for the company said: “We can confirm that we’re looking to open a restaurant in Glenrothes.
“It’s early days at the moment, but we hope to have some good news soon.”
It is not the first time that KFC has hoped to extend its presence in Fife, and in Glenrothes in particular.
The fried chicken chain previously looked at opening premises in the town and had gone as far as scouting a potential location next to Asda on Queensgate Road.
That was back in 2010 and the plans were put on ice for reasons that were never explained by the company.
However, the latest move bears out KFC’s declaration then that it would maintain an interest in opening a restaurant in the town.
