Auchtertool Primary School has been praised for its “nurturing ethos” in an Education Scotland report.
Following a recent inspection, the school was rated “very good” in the categories of learners’ experience and meeting learning needs.
It was given a “good” rating for improvements in performance, curriculum and improvement through self-evaluation.
Auchtertool’s key strengths included its “welcoming, caring and nurturing ethos”, the commitment of staff to making learning interesting and challenging, and partnerships with the wider community.
The school was also said to use knowledge of children as individuals to support their learning. Education Scotland discussed with the school a number of improvements that could be made.
These related to recording children’s progress, using developments in literacy and numeracy as an example for improving other curriculum areas, and further developing the role of parents in children’s learning and school life.
The report stated: “Children learn and achieve well. They feel happy, safe and very well cared for. Almost all of them are very positive about their learning.”
