A NEW Fife business means everyone can wear their art on their sleeve nearly.
Jewel in her Crown was founded earlier this year by Dunfermline residents Ross Macauley and Lauren Kobilnyk.
Keen to put Ross’s growing portfolio of photography to good use, Lauren came up with the idea of printing his striking images onto silk scarves.
Their debut spring-summer collection of 100% silk scarves printed with Polaroid style photography was well received both locally and by their online customers from across the UK.
Now having recently launched their autumn-winter collection, they are hoping this latest range will be just as popular.
Ross (31) said: “Our material is sourced from Hangzhou, a well known silk district in China.
“It takes around three weeks for the scarves to be produced and shipped to us once we’ve placed an order.
“We found selecting images for our second collection much more difficult than the first.
“We had lots of suggestions from customers of the sorts of things they would like to see on a scarf, which was great, but ultimately led to failed attempts at capturing the shot.
“We’ve learned that our best scarves come from the strongest images, regardless of the subject.
“Despite loving the images, we had reservations about printing a Chinook helicopter or an electric pylon on a fashion scarf but surprisingly they’ve turned out to be our most popular.”
Lauren (30) added: “All of this came from me wanting a particular image printed on to a scarf for myself.
“To see it now growing as our own little business and for other people to be enthusiastic about the collections has been really lovely.
“It’s still quite a novelty to receive orders from people that we don’t know who want to own a piece of our photo collection too.”
Jewel in her Crown scarves are available from their online store at www.jewelinhercrown.com.
