THE FIRST tenants have moved into a £3 million development of council houses in Dunfermline in time for Christmas.
Thirty detached and semi-detached homes have been built on the site of the former Blacklaw Primary School.
City of Dunfermline area committee chairman, Mike Rumney, said he was thrilled to see homes of such a high standard being made available to people on the Fife housing register waiting list.
“It’s great that they are occupied in time for these families to enjoy Christmas in a new home,” he said.
“Many of the tenants were on the transfer list, which means that other houses will also be freed up for rent.”
The streets in the development are named after two well-known Dunfermline Athletic footballers of the 1960s, Harry Melrose and the late John Lunn.
Kingdom Housing Association managed the build, while a grant subsidy of around £900,000 was provided from the Scottish Government, with the remainder funded by Fife Council.
