Young Fife teacher loses brave battle against cancer
ByMichael Alexander
FAMILY, FRIENDS and colleagues have paid tribute to a 31-year-old music teacher from Fife who has died after a courageous battle against cancer.
Angela Macdonald taught music for six years at Bell Baxter High School in Cupar.
She also had spells teaching at Beath High School, Cowdenbeath, and Glenwood High School, Glenrothes.
Angela was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in December 2011 and was given the all-clear last April after undergoing chemotherapy at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
However, she had a relapse at the end of September and, despite undergoing further treatment, died at Ninewells on December 30. Her funeral takes place today at Cupar Baptist Church.
Angela was the only child of Bill, the minister at Cupar Baptist Church for 29 years before taking early retirement in September 2011, and Morag.
Mr Macdonald praised the “excellent” care his daughter received at Ninewells and from GPs and district nurses in Fife.
“We feel a great sense of loss from our point of view, but she is at peace now and is no longer in pain and that is a great comfort,” he said.
