St Andrews University principal to join Carnegie Corporation board

THE PRINCIPAL and vice-chancellor of St Andrews University, Professor Louise Richardson, has been elected to serve on the Carnegie Corporation of New York board of trustees.
The appointment, alongside that of Georgetown University president John J. DeGioia and former President of Portugal Jorge Sampaio, was announced by board chairwoman Janet Robinson, former president and chief executive officer, the New York Times Company, and Vartan Gregorian, president of the Carnegie Corporation.
Ms Robinson said: “We are honoured to welcome Dr DeGioia, Professor Richardson and President Sampaio to the Carnegie Corporation board.
“Each shares an essential attribute for a Carnegie Corporation trustee a tremendous passion and commitment for supporting our mission of promoting the advancement and diffusion of knowledge and understanding.
“Professor Richardson … is a renowned scholar whose work focuses on international terrorist movements, and who will bring an international perspective to our work.”
