A £1,000 reward has been offered for the conviction of a man who stole an elderly man’s wallet in Fife.
One of the man’s relatives put up the reward in the hope it would prevent other elderly residents from being targeted. The theft took place in Bruntley Place, Freuchie, at around 5pm on January 16.
The victim was approached by a man aged around 40 and about 5ft 8ins, who was wearing dark clothing and a dark tammy. The thief spoke with the elderly occupant, before stealing his wallet and running off.
Nephew Kenneth Crawford, who has offered the reward, said: “I am sure that someone must know who is responsible for this theft and I would ask them to come forward.
“This reward will be paid out on a successful conviction. The theft has caused quite a shock within the family.
“We really want the guy caught, not just for my uncle but for other people in Fife and round about.”
Detective Sergeant Alan Stewart, of Cupar CID, said: “If you have any information about this crime, or saw anyone acting suspiciously, contact Fife Constabulary on 0845 6005702 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
