The cars they were driving a Honda Civic and a Vauxhall Corsa collided head-on on the A92, half a mile from the Rathillet turn-off, on Sunday evening. The man was trapped in his vehicle for almost two and a half hours before firefighters were able to release him using hydraulic cutting equipment. He and the other driver, who were both travelling alone, were rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Paramedics were called to the scene at around 7.35pm and the road was closed to allow accident investigations.
