Cupar station ramp opens three months after completion

A £1 million ramp giving improved access to Cupar railway station has finally opened, months after it was complete.
There was frustration that the ramp remained cordoned off despite being apparently finished.
A problem with the size of the gap at the bottom of the railing, which was big enough for luggage to fall through, meant the access remained closed on health and safety grounds until the problem could be rectified.
Construction of the winding ramp from South Road was confirmed almost four years ago after Transport Scotland announced Cupar would benefit from the Scottish Government’s Access For All funding pot.
Previously the southbound platform could only be reached by a steep set of stone steps.
