Three sporting sisters are bound for Italy as they make the Youth Olympiad a family affair.
Jennifer, Fiona and Ailsa Cruickshanks, from Lundin Links, have been selected to compete for Fife in the sporting event in Alba in July.
The pupils at Waid Academy, Anstruther, are talented runners and are excited about racing teams from across Europe.
Jennifer (17) said, “Not only does it allow us to compete at a very high level against international competition but it also lets us travel to Italy, meet new people and make new friends. We can’t wait to take part.”
Vice-captain of the athletics team, Jennifer will be running in the 1500 metres alongside Fiona (16). Ailsa (13) will be competing in the under-15 distance event.
Young sportsmen and women between 13 and 18 from across Fife are preparing with their coaches for the five-day competition which starts on July 27.
The Youth Olympiad was launched in 1978 to foster and improve sporting links between Glenrothes and its twin towns in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy and Turkey.
