Traffic chaos after power fault hits Cupar households
ByNews reporter
Firms and householders in Cupar left for hours without electricity due to a cabling fault have been promised compensation.
Some 22 customers in the town centre had their supply cut off from late Tuesday night after Scottish Power found a fuse problem at Burnside sub-station.
While the fault had only affected one customer, the utility said it would have led to problems for more.
The source was traced to cabling in the town centre and the repair job has led to hold-ups for drivers as three-way traffic controls were installed at the Bonnygate-Crossgate junction to allow engineers access.
Excavating began on Tuesday evening and continued through the night. A spokeswoman said while they were carrying out the repairs, 22 customers were taken off supply.
“These customers were off until late Wednesday afternoon but everyone was back on by 5pm. “Compensation will be paid to customers who were off for a certain amount of time. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
